I was going through some reviews and comparisons of some spyware removal tools looking for info on one that was installed on a clients machine. So here I am looking through top 10-25 lists and product comparisons/reviews and I actually started to pay attention to the reviews as I couldn't find this spyware program, but I wanted to see the other software programs offered.
So I see the programs I tend to favour and they are getting bad reviews and I look at the product comparisons...Spybot Search & Destroy is my personal favourite, it has a good scan engine and a lot of extra tools that I havent found in other applications, I've never had a stability problem with it in any operating system or version of IE/Netscape. So here I see it getting bad marks for stability and operating system compatibility. It gets low grades on extra tools, so after a bit of looking I notice most of the spyware software getting good reviews tends to be the same 5 retail applications. And then to top it off some review sites cannot even do their own reviews, I see cut and paste reviews from different sites.
I know this has been done to hardware reviews for ages and there are very few non-biased reviewers for hardware, but they are out there and their information is always good.
So a few small pieces of advice, if your looking for non-biased reviews. 1. A place that has ad banners for the hardware/software they "review" looks a bit conspicuous. 2. Ones that offer to sell the product to you themselves tend to have a vested interest. 3. When going through multiple reviews check for people just being lazy asses and copying some other review page. 4. Ask people who's opinion you trust, and when you find a good non-biased review site, bookmark it and pass it off to friends when they are looking.

Everyday is like Sunday - The Smiths |
] |
Well my birthday passed without any fuss, sooo I'm 29 now. I spent the evening after I finished work having a couple of Beers at the Purple Pig and to go see 04M. Aside from that and a few rounds of scotch with my dad it was uneventful.
I went to the Upper Canada Village event this weekend, it pissed rain most of Saturday; I wasn't in dry clothes till I got home Sunday afternoon, but the weekend was a blast, realized I'm a bit out of shape though, my legs were killing me Sunday morning. We ran those rebels hard the entire time, they had some complaints while it was happening, but even the American rebels said they had a great time. I was considering dropping being a yorker I'm stretched really thin money wise and I know I'm running headlong into some bills I won't be able to pay if I keep it up. But after the experience I want to keep going, I just may not attend any more events this year to try and settle my finances.
One thing finally sunk in these past few weeks, I have always had a few really close friends always around; but now with 04M and Okami moving to Toronto, other friends starting families...I really have nobody left I'm really close with. I haven't even dated in a few years between work and all the things I do on the side with hobbies and stuff. But aside from family I'll be pretty much alone now, no significant other, there is not really any women I'm familiar with aside from the occasional greeting and small chat, even those are mostly clients. Actually thinking back I always figured I'd be in a serious relationship by now and settled down, I guess with 30 closing in its more in mind now.
Just a few things weighing a bit right now, I figured I'd put them down and see if it helped shed any light while I put it all to my electronic pad, or at least relieve the BLAH feeling thats been building more over the past few weeks...it hasn't, now I dont know if I'm going to bother saving this, I'm pretty tight about my feelings even with friends I try to be the calm and collected one almost all the time and this really goes against my way...

Went and saw Evil Dead 1&2: The Musical last night, it was a riot. They used all the best catch-phrases and lines from the movies. Well timed, good songs kudos for the 3 rows of seats with plastic garbage bags on them because of the blood spray.
I was a little disappointed for only one reason:
1. We had tickets for "blood seats" (first 3 rows) and there were signs all over the seats reserving them, which when the performance started they gave to walk-in's we got stuck in corner outside stage right and couldn't see parts of the show, and didn't get bloody from the spray.
The rest of the night was fantastic, I'm still singing some of the songs from the show in my head today, 04M had a good thought, maybe they'll release the songs on CD....:)
On another note the electric blue E-Cocker that I have been jonsing all over every time I see it is up for bidding again the guy just lowered the reserve price I currently have the high bid on it.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3685025841&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&rd=1
It's gorgeous, and it is completely kitted out with all the upgrades, I'm really hoping to win it this time around because now it will be sold since the reserve has finally been met.
I have a few movies I'm hoping to see in the theatres this summer: Chronicles of Riddick Spiderman 2 Hero Shrek 2 AVP (If you dont know what that is you dont deserve to know :P )
Anyhow I would have more to say since it's been such a while, but my lunch is soon over. I just have one last thing to say: "Have fun in Alaska 'leenie, I'm looking forward to when you get back"

| wow since 2002, its been a while |
[12 Apr 2004|02:05am] |
hmm, where to start...saw HellBoy, it was ok, but after watching it I felt like it didn't answer any of the questions brought out in the movie except that HellBoy has a name...
Been playing a really wicked Xbox game 007 - Everything or Nothing The game plays like a movie, it gets pretty hard at some points but has a 5 second cinematic after all the time invested to finish it.
Reading Clash of Kings, almost done it, only 100 pages left Tyrion threatened Cersi, so now I'm expecting some infighting in Lannister. (04m your whore has a bit of a temper)
I slept a lot this weekend, needed it. I just felt totally drained for the last week or so. I have had no inclination to paint, which was annoying me, I need to get my Dark Eldar done if I will be up to competing in the conflict this year. I have no hopes of winning, but I need to put it up against high caliber armies and players, I know it is just a few small tweaks away from being consistently tough.
I have it hard for the new Sisters of Battle army, georgeous models and they look like a tough army. I'm holding off until I have my Dark Eldar done (which at the rate I have been painting not for a while).
aGoT is going well, I received an email, all my cards are now in the mail, I should have them by the end of the week, which means a total re-vamp of my deck (hopefully in time to tune it for the Bay Con.
Getting late...need to sleep...

Queen - "Princes of the Universe" |

Well I spent a week+ cranking down on study material and working on stuff and I went in for my Compaq APS (Accredited Platform Specialist Desktop & Workstations) exam and certification. The exam is an hour long, I walked out in 21 minutes with a 90% *Dances around*
Then the guy at the testing center asked me if I wanted a job teaching...:)
I turned it down (being that its about 90 minutes away from where I live, and I dont want to commute). But it was 2 very good things to have happen all within 25 minutes.
On top of passing the exam I get a raise for getting the certification, which just made my day that much more enjoyable. I was a little worried going into the exam, my company needs me to have this certification & they paid the $150 for me to take the test.
Now I get back to my normal routine, working on my Windows 2000 Professional curriculum and Feudal Realms. I also forgot something during the last bit while I was studying and I apologize to that person, I was supposed to send something out in the mail and I gapped on it. I cant send it till next week, but I promise I will send it like I said I would. Or maybe I'll put this nifty poster on my wall... ;)

Congratulations on being the creator of a new Evil Plan (tm)!
Your objective is simple: Soul Accumulation.
Your motive is a little bit more complex: Sadistic pleasure
Stage One To begin your plan, you must first assassinate a rich and powerful ceo. This will cause the world to swallow nervously, unsettled by your arrival. Who is this sadistic fiend? Where did they come from? And why do they look so good in classic black?
Stage Two Next, you must destroy the Internet. This will all be done from a abandoned church, a mysterious place of unrivaled dark glory. Upon seeing this, the world will wet their pants, as countless hordes of computer programmers hasten to do your every bidding.
Stage Three Finally, you must activate your armies of destruction, bringing about an end to sanity. Your name shall become synonymous with sheer dementedness, and no man will ever again dare roll his or her eyes. Everyone will bow before your unbreakable will, and the world will have no choice but to restore your credit rating.

| Erinyes - looked it up....:) |
[13 May 2002|11:23pm] |
|
The Furies, in Greek Erinyes, or euphemistically Eumenides, were avenging spirits of retributive justice. Their names, when in course of time their number had come to be fixed as three, were Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone. Their task was to punish crimes not within the reach of human justice.

| fact or fiction? |
[13 May 2002|12:36pm] |

You dwell excessively on past memories, particularly the bad ones. You blame yourself for your faults, and fear being a bad person. You can be delusional and paranoid, yet hide these things from others and bury your feelings deep, where you can revive them to dwell on them later. You need to stop dwelling on the past, and look to the future.
Your song is: War Inside my Head
Which degree of inner turbulence are you?
